Womens Hockey

The Women’s Division competes in the Brisbane Women’s Hockey Association competition that runs from March until Mid-September.

The Association conducts two separate women's competitions.

  • Senior Turf Division

  • Senior Grass Hockey (Downey Park) Division

  • Masters Hockey League

Senior Turf Division

Players 13 years of age (as at the 1st January) and above are eligible to play in the competition but those aged 17 and under require written parental permission.

The competition consists of 5 divisions that have a maximum of 10 teams contesting 2 rounds of 9 fixtures.

East’s women currently field a team in each of the 5 Senior Turf Divisions.

Fixtures are played on the following artificial surfaces; Easts Hockey Tiger Turf, Clem Jones Centre, Carina; on one of two water based artificial surfaces at The State Hockey Centre at Colmslie; on artificial surfaces at Burringbar Park, Chermside and at Redcliffe.

Divisions 1 and 2 play on Saturday afternoons/evenings

Divisions 3, 4 and 5 play on Sunday morning/afternoon /evenings

Training takes place on the artificial surface on a Wednesday evening at East’s Tiger Turf, Clem Jones Centre, Carina between 7 – 9pm and includes a fitness session for Div 3 – 5.

Fitness training takes place at East’s Tiger Turf, Clem Jones Centre, Carina on a Monday evenings for Div 1 & 2 and anyone else from the lower divisions who is interested in an extra session.

Senior Grass Hockey (Downey Park) Division

Players 13 years of age and above are eligible to play in the competition but those aged 17 and under require written parental permission.

The competition consists of 5 divisions which have a varying number of teams dependent on the season’s competition numbers.

Fixtures are played on grass on Saturday afternoons at Downey Park, Newmarket

At present Easts senior women do not field a grass team however should there be enough interested grass players a team would be welcomed and supported by the Women’s division.

Masters Hockey League

Players who are 34 year or older as at January 1 become eligible to play in the Masters Competition.

The competition consists of 3 divisions with up to 10 teams in each with varying rounds to cater to the seasonal competition numbers.

Fixtures are played on Monday nights on the water based artificial surface at one of the following surfaces, East’s Tiger Turf, Clem Jones Centre, Carina; the State Hockey Centre, Colmslie, Redcliffe and Burringbar Park at Chermside
